I just re-read my What Are You Pretending Not To Know About Your Business article from last September. Upon review, I realized I’d like to update my question to this:
What Are You Pretending Not To Know About Your Life?
What are the orange caution cones in your life you’re ignoring? What are the yellow alert signs in your life that you’re disregarding? If you don’t pay attention to the feedback the orange caution cones and yellow alert signs have to offer, you may end up STOPPED by the big red sign.
Take a moment to pause and sit quietly...breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth as you close your eyes (really close your eyes). With your eyes closed, gently closed ask yourself:
WHAT AM I PRETENDING NOT TO KNOW ABOUT: 1. MY FAMILY? 2. MY FINANCES? 3. MY CAREER/BUSINESS? 4. MY RELATIONSHIPS? 5. MY RELIGIOUS / SPIRITUAL CONSCIOUSNESS? 6. MY COMMUNITY / LEGACY / SERVICE INVOLVEMENT? 7. MY HEALTH/FITNESS? 8. MY PERSONAL TIME & WELL-BEING?
Now, without stopping to edit or modify your thoughts, quickly write down what came to you during your reflection. Keep writing until you think you’ve gotten it all…then, pause and say out loud – Is there anything I’ve forgotten?
Here are 2 example my past Pretending Not To Know Review:
Awareness: That’s just heartburn, who wouldn’t have that right now?
I was pretending not to know: It happened at certain times and was becoming severe enough to cause me to miss events.
Action: Consulted with my doctor, was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and given an easy treatment plan.
Awareness: Mom told me she was grateful when I made time to call but I was often too busy.
I was pretending not to know: It was really important to my Mom for me to call her. I could show her kindness and love if I called her regularly.
Action: Call Mom every Sunday and if I wasn’t available to call, let her know in advance so she didn’t worry.
Take your notes and create your Pretending Not To Know Action Plan.
I’ll be back tomorrow with a tool to help you improve Relationships. Until then, watch out for those caution cones and yellow alerts! www.successlooksgreatonyou.com
